Colin Clark’s first awareness of James Bond came when he saw a 007 film on the ABC Sunday Night Movie when he was ten years old. “My mother really got me started into Bond because she had all the Ian Fleming books and gave them to me to read,” he told HollywoodinHiDef.com. He continued following the films whenever they aired on TV, and in 1977 saw his first 007 film in a theater—The Spy Who Loved Me.

After obtaining his FAA A&P (Airframe and Powerplant) license certification in 1979, Clark began work as a trained aircraft maintenance mechanic and inspector for almost eight years before transitioning to American Airlines at Chicago’s O’Hare Airport. There he is involved in evaluating of all American Airlines fleet-type engines and evaluation of aircraft surfaces. He also conducts “back check” inspections on the aircraft and reviews and audits maintenance documents.

His knowledge of aircraft maintenance has come in handy for his volunteer duties for the Ian Fleming Foundation. Since 2001, he has assisted with the coordination of repairs and restorations of the film-used vehicles in the IFF’s collection. He also assists in coordinating the transportation, set-up, and logistics of making the vehicles available for charity events, museum displays, auto shows, parades, and conventions.
