Julian Parrott thinks the first film he ever saw at the cinema in his home town of Wrexham, Wales was Diamonds Are Forever but it may have been the Sound of Music.  He has, however, been a life-long Bond fan apart from a little wobble in the late 1980s. 

Julian, who earned a doctorate in higher education, had a thirty-four-year career as an academic student affairs administrator at the University of Illinois. It was while preparing a freshman seminar class that Julian began to utilize Bond movies and Fleming’s novels as vehicles to illustrate social change around lens of geopolitics, class, race, sex, and gender roles. He subsequently taught Bond and Fleming classes at the University of Illinois and Southern Illinois University. His research interests also resulted in his contributing to a number of Bond focussed on-line periodicals.

Julian cites Fleming as an inspiration on his writing of his two thriller novels although his leading protagonists are rather un-Bondian.  He plans on returning to research projects around Fleming and Bond just as soon as his third novel is completed.
